      Export formats

      Learn the different export formats you can download your Trint files in

      Trint has integrations with a range of exporting formats to help you publish or continue editing content in other programs. This guide will cover every format Trint covers as of August 2022.

      This support guide will cover:

      Trints

      You can export your Trint in the following formats:

      • Microsoft Word Document (.docx)

      • Audio (.m4a)

      • Video (.mp4)

      • SubRip (.srt)

      • VTT (.vtt)

      • Spruce STL Subtitles (.stl)

      • Edit Decision List (.edl)

      • Interactive Transcript (.html)

      • Project (.xml)

      • CSV (.csv)

      Stories

      You can export your Stories in the following formats:

      • Microsoft Word (.docx)

      • Edit Decision List (.edl)

      • Audio (.m4a)

      • Project (.xml)

      Caption files

      You can export your Caption files in SubRip (.srt).

      Formatting options by type

      Text export formats

      • Microsoft Word Document (.docx)

      • CSV (.csv): Export full transcript, comments, highlights or markers into a CSV file

      Subtitle export formats

      • SubRip (.srt): Universal subtitling format. It displays:

        • A number indicating which subtitle it is in the sequence.

        • The time that the subtitle should appear on the screen and then disappear.

        • The caption text.

        • A blank line indicating the start of a new subtitle. It is compatible with videos played on most media players.

           

          A note on .srt and Facebook:
          - Facebook has a specific naming convention: filename.en_US.srt

          - The file also needs to be UTF-8 with bom, which can simply be renamed in a notepad APP

      • VTT (.vtt): Subtitles for use with HTML video players and other software

        • This format is modelled after SRT, and accommodates text formatting, positioning, and rendering options (such as pop-up, roll-on, paint-on, etc.). VTT is the caption format used for HTML5 text track rendering (the editing of external text tracks). It is compatible with videos on cloud-based, HTML5 media players and video management systems.

      • Avid DS Subtitles (.txt): Subtitles for use with Avid Media Composer and other software

        • This format is similar to Subrip and VTT, however you can adjust the frame rate.

      • Spruce STL Subtitles (.stl): Spruce subtitling format

        • This format is also similar to Subrip and VTT, however you can adjust the frame rate.

       

      Video export formats

       

      • Video (.mp4): Export your full transcript as a video file

      • Edit Decision List (.edl): Video editing post-production format for importing into Premiere and Media Composer

      • This format is used to pull key moments out of a transcript and connect them to the moments in which they occur in the video. The EDL file format specifies editing choices during production and includes the location of source video data and timecodes for when to use the video. An EDL is not the best choice for captioning an entire video, but it is of use for larger video editing projects as it allows the original project to be recreated in a separate editing system.

      • Project (.xml): Video/audio editing project format for importing into Premiere, Audition and Final Cut Pro 7

      • Avid ScriptSync (.txt): Compatible with Avid Media Composer 8.8 and above.

        • Produces a copy of all the text which Avid uses to attach to the side of the video to enable you to search the video.

      Audio export formats

      • Audio (.m4a): Export your full transcript as an audio file
      • Project (.xml): Video/audio editing project format for importing into Premiere, Audition and Final Cut Pro 7

      Media player export formats

      • Interactive Transcript (.html): Customizable HTML player - downloads a rudimentary version of a Trint that you can play on your browser
